Redwood Free Market

Location: Rachel Carson College Cafe (College Eight Cafe)

Hours: Mondays (2-5PM), Tuesdays to Thursdays (9AM-1PM, Wednesdays: 2-5PM Grad Students), Fridays (9AM-1PM)

  • Features produce, dry goods, and CalFresh information
  • We are a choice-based no limits pantry so take what you need with your Student ID! Masks and social distancing are required.
  • How does it work?
    • Bring your own bag and arrive during the hours shown above
    • Scan the QR Code located at the entrance to sign in
      • First time visitors for this school year will fill out the First Time Intake Form from scanning the QR Code which is standard across multiple distribution sites 
      • Already filled out the First Time Intake Form somewhere else? Awesome! Just scan the QR Code and input your Student ID and location!
    • Show our staff your green badge
    • Shop for your items. Traffic inside the pantry will be limited by our staff to ensure social distancing
    • Bag your items outside and leave your basket for us to sanitize

Produce Pop-Up

Location: Quarry Plaza (Wednesdays), Porter College Quad (Fridays)

Hours: 11AM - 3:30PM

Produce Pop-Up is a weekly organic farm stand for the UC Santa Cruz community. As a part of Basic Needs, Produce Pop-Up aims to provide low-cost and free healthy, organic food. Open to the entire campus community, we will be popping up at different locations around campus twice a week with produce grown by students at the on-campus farm.

Cowell Coffee Shop

Location: Near the Cowell/Stevenson Dining Hall

Hours: Monday to Friday from 8AM to 3:30PM

Cowell Coffee Shop is a student-run cafe designed to increase food security by providing free food to all students. Offerings include custom made bowls from our new Chowbotics unit, fresh pressed juices, coffee, food recovery items from our campus and community partners, and more!

SUA Food Pantry & Lounge

Location: Athletics and Recreation Front Office (Across from Pool)

Hours: At present this site is closed pending SUA and COVID planning to re-open. 

  • Produce, ready-to-eat meals, non-perishables, snacks, coffee, and tea
  • Microwave available for use
  • Current UCSC Student ID necessary to receive food

Food & Garden Guide

The UCSC Campus Food & Garden Guide offers students and others a range of information on UCSC's classes, internships, farm and gardens, volunteer opportunities, and other articles and activities related to the campus and community food system. Produced by the Center of Agroecology, the guide is available free as hard copy at various campus locations and online. Measure 43 funding supports production, printing, and distribution of the UCSC Campus Food and Garden Guide.
